Things to Eat, See & Do

Making a holiday of it?

Here’s a few of our recommendations for things to eat, see & do!

We do recommend if you are thinking of extending your stay, that a car hire is probably a must in order to make the most of the area. Public transport isn’t as frequent or as simple to navigate as more touristic Spanish hotspots!

Things to Do & See!

  • Cap Roig Botanical Gardens

The Cap Roig botanical gardens are stunning gardens next to the lovely seaside village of Calella-de-Palafrugell in the province of Girona in the Catalonia region of Spain.

  • Far de Sant Sebastia

The Sant Sebastià lighthouse is located in the town of Llafranc.

This iconic building, built in the mid-19th century, stands 169 metres above the sea, and its location gives it the privilege of having one of the best panoramic views of the Costa Brava.

There’s also a lovely shortish hiking trail which starts and ends at the lighthouse.

Why not stay for a lunch at the wonderful El Far Restaurant

  • Mooma - Sidreria | Restaurant

A fabulous ‘Sidreria’ or Cidery nestled in the heart of the Palafrugell countryside. A wonderful site of orchards, cider tasting & tours, a fabulous restaurant and casual outdoor bar.

  • The Medieval Village of 'Pals'

The medieval town of Pals is located on the Costa Brava, to the east of the city of Girona.
Situated on top of a hill, overlooking Platja de Pals, this charming town with its cobbled streets, craft shops, traditional restaurants and bars is a great place to visit in Catalonia.

  • Visit Girona Town

Girona is a beautiful walled city which sits on the edge of the River Onyar. Aprx 40 min drive from Palafrugell.

It’s a gorgeous place to visit, with medieval walls, narrow winding city streets, and one of the best preserved Jewish Quarters in Europe.

For those Game of Thrones fans out there, Girona is the filming location for Bravos through S6!

  • Diving & Snorkeling

For the adventurous out there… there are plenty of diving schools in and around the town - everything from group dives, to try dives & snorkeling!

The sea is incredibly clear and the coved beaches create the perfect spots for some wildlife watching!

Where to Eat?

  • Calau - Pinxtos Bar & Tapas - Calella

A fantastic concept originating from the Basque region of Spain, Pinxtos are bite size mouthfuls of food, usually served a top a small piece of bread.
The idea in this restaurant is you can visit the deli bar and get a few plates, order hot ones or wait for the waiters to bring round a selection and you call out for the one you fancy! After it all, they tally up your sticks and away you go. Great for lunch or dinner!

  • Restaurant El Far - Llafranc

A car is needed to visit this restaurant as it’s next to the Sant Sebastia lighthouse, Llafranc. A 10 minute drive upwards (!) outside the main town.

Worth a visit just for the spectacular views.

  • Marmara - Llafranc

A fabulous tapas restaurant just behind the seafront but with great views none-the-less.

Great reviews and recommendations galore - take a look for yourselves! Booking is a must.

  • Casamar - Llafranc

Set at the top of a set of steep steps is the Michelin starred restaurant with fantastic views of Llafranc.

    Booking is a must!

  • Sa Teula - Llafranc

Set back from the town beach, Sa Teula is a perfect spot for those wanting to beat the crowds of the beachfront.
Lovely salads, seafood and traditional Spanish dishes but with a modern twist.

  • Restaurant Bark - Calella

A lovely restuarant with a really interesting spin on Spanish food using so much creativity.

There are plenty of restaurants and bars in both Calella & Llafranc!
